SBR SUPERBOAT GRAND PRIX TOUR ANNOUNCES 1993 RACE SCHEDULE; TELEVISED SERIES INCLUDES CHICAGO AND CLEVELAND

 NEW YORK, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The SBR sanctioned Superboat Grand Prix Tour 1993 Race Schedule was released today. Ten races will comprise the "tour" with two major Midwest metropolitan cities joining the schedule. The SBR Superboat Grand Prix Tour will be fully televised with cable sports television and a nationally syndicated broadcast.
 The 1993 race schedule includes two major newcomers to professional offshore powerboat racing with events planned in downtown Chicago and Cleveland. The race in Chicago is expected to be witnessed by more than 600,000 spectators on "Loop" beaches.
 In conjunction with the announcement of the race schedule, John Carbonell, president of SBR also announced the appointment of Sport Properties Development (SPD) as marketing agency for the tour. The Cleveland-based agency will manage all marketing and promotion administration for the series.
 Terry Schoenling, representing Sport Properties Development, said, "bringing the giant boats to the center of these metropolitan communities is a significant step in bringing the sport right to people who have never had a chance to see these racers firsthand."

 August 26 New Orleans Superboat Grand Prix
 October 3 New York City -- National Championships
