SAVING THE KITTENS

PHILADELPHIA, June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Franklin Mills Mall management has sought assistance in rescuing a family of kittens born recently under a compactor in the mall parking lot.
The kittens, still with their mother, were discovered by mall management this afternoon.
The kittens are located under a compactor in the front of the mall in the Green Zone -- near Modell's and Office Max. Northeast Disposal, a division of Waste Management, the waste removal contractor for the mall, has agreed NOT to move the compactor until a "knowledgeable cat lover" can help rescue the kittens.
Waste Management located Lisa Langtoe, a cat handler from Newtown, Pa., who has rescued many kittens and cats in the past. She will meet Waste Management at the compactor around 6:30 p.m. tonight.
A total mall effort has been extended to these kittens. Tenants are avoiding the compactor so as not to disturb the kittens. "Lovable Pets" -- a pet store in Franklin Mills Mall -- is happy to clean and care for the kittens until they are "adopted" by caring individuals. "We are delighted with the support we are getting," said Dennis Deehan, assistant manager of the mall. "Everyone has a sincere interest in helping these kittens."
