SATELLITE PICK OF THE DAY.

Live Football: Hibs v Barcelona

Setanta Sports 2, 7.30pm

IT won't be long before Barcelona register for a place in the SPL, going by the amount of games they are playing in Scotland these days.

Last summer, they played Dundee United and Hearts in pre-season friendlies, before visiting Ibrox and Celtic Park on Champions League duty.

Now they are back for another preseason fiesta to take on Hibs at Murrayfield in what should be a fantastic night of football. They also play Dundee United at Tannadice on Saturday, also on Setanta Sports 2, with a 3.30pm start.

Live Football: Cardiff City v Celtic

Setanta Sports 1, 9.25pm

THE pre-season friendlies are now in full swing and having Scottish sides playing live on telly is an awesome sight once again.

The Hoops continue their build up to the defence of their SPL title with the latest round of a busy summer schedule and take on FA Cup finalists Cardiff City in the Algarve Cup.

Celtic will have their international competitors such as new dad Artur Boruc, Georgios Samaras and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink back in the fold by now, while the Welsh side will be out to claim some celtic, with a small c, pride.

Without A Trace

More4, 10.00pm

THE team tries to determine whether an ex-con's past criminal activity is what caused her to disappear after visiting a prison inmate.

Have the woman's old mistakes come back to haunt her, or is she genuinely a reformed character?

Meanwhile, Vivian makes progress in her investigation into the kidnapping of a young woman.

Batman Begins

Sky Action Thriller, 8.00pm

THE only reason you're in tonight watching telly is presumably because you could not get tickets for the opening night of movie of the year, The Dark Knight. Assuming you are planning to see it this weekend, then check out its predecessor, in which we see the Bat find his feet as Christopher Nolan relaunched the DC Comics comic book hero with great style.

Batfans can also check out a special preview of The Dark Knight straight after, and all that is then followed by a cool screening of Tim Burton's original Bat revamp, Batman, from 1989, offering a good chance to compare Joker actors Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger.

Slither

Sky Sci-Fi Horror, 7.20pm

CLASSICB-movie fun here as Serenity star Nathan Fillion takes the lead as a small town sheriff who has to deal with an invasion of nasty mind-controlling alien slugs after a comet brings a plague of the bugs to earth.

Samantha Mathis plays a put-upon wife whose overbearing husband becomes the first infected and mutates into a monster slug, leaving just her and Fillion to battle the varmints.
