SATCOM C-4 WILL CARRY CMT: COUNTRY MUSIC TELEVISION

PRINCETON, N.J., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Cable systems throughout the nation can now access CMT: Country Music Television via SATCOM C-4, transponder 24.
CMT has contracted with GE Americom Communications, Inc. (GE Americom) for long-term service on the new cable satellite's last available transponder.
SATCOM C-4 and an identical GE Americom satellite, SATCOM C-3, distribute many of cable's most popular programming services to more than 10,000 U.S. cable systems. CMT joins such programmers as Showtime, MTV, Nickelodeon, The Family Channel, Lifetime, American Movie Classics and C-Span on SATCOM C-4.
"We're delighted to have Country Music Television aboard our SATCOM fleet. CMT's country music video format adds a unique dimension enriching our cable programming neighborhood," said John F. Connelly, chairman and chief executive officer of GE Americom.
"Country Music Television is moving to one of cable's premier satellites," said Steve Soule, vice president, affiliate relations, Group W Satellite Communications. "This new position makes CMT easier to access and more attractive to cable operators."
CMT features country music videos by chart-topping country artists. Since its launch in 1983, CMT has grown into a major 24-hour cable network with a reputation for introducing cutting-edge music video programming. The service currently reaches more than 18.9 million U.S. subscriber households through 4,880 systems and 1.4 million Canadian households via 363 cable systems.
CMT is owned by Gaylord Entertainment Company and Group W Satellite Communications, a division of Group W (Westinghouse Broadcasting Company, Inc.)
GE Americom, located in Princeton, operates the SATCOM fleet -- five C-band and two Ku-band satellites -- that service cable television, broadcast radio and television, as well as business information and government markets. GE Americom is a subsidiary of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE).
