SASKATCHEWAN GAMING AUTHORITY FINALIZING PLANS TO PURCHASE VLT'S TERMINALS

BOZEMAN, Mont., July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Video Lottery Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: VLTS) (VLT), today announced that the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority is finalizing its negotiations with VLT's subsidiary Video Lottery Consultants, Inc. (VLC) to purchase 1,000 video lottery terminals with an option to purchase 500 additional terminals. The company announced in March that it had been selected by the Authority to supply those terminals.
In connection with the Government's review of VLC, the Saskatchewan minister responsible for the Authority, Eldon Lautermilch, released a statement yesterday indicating that the "Authorities' security staff have conducted an exhaustive investigation, including numerous interviews with individuals from VLC. My officials have assured me that there is no evidence at this time to suggest that VLC is the target of any grand jury investigation and that there is no evidence that identifies any wrongdoing on the part of any VLC official or employee who was involved in the West Virginia request for proposal process."
James Davey, VLT's chief executive officer, responded to the government's announcement by stating that "the company is pleased that Saskatchewan is moving ahead to finalize our role in the manufacturing, installation and start up of its video lottery program."
VLT announced last week that its subsidiary, Automated Wagering International, Inc. (AWI), had received an extension of its contract to operate the Washington State Lottery's on-line lottery system until 1996.
VLT, through its principal subsidiaries, AWI and VLC, is one of the largest operators or system software and related services for the on- line lottery and video lottery markets, as well as the leading manufacturer of video lottery terminals. Currently, the company's on- line and video lottery terminals are in operation in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the Kingdom of Norway.
VLT common stock is traded on the NASDAQ National Market System under the symbol VLTS.
