SASI EXPANDS ITS SALES, MARKETING AND SUPPORT ORGANIZATION

BRISTOL, Pa., Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- SASI (Stores Automated Systems, Inc.), one of the Delaware Valley's fastest-growing, privately held, high-technology companies, is creating a new sales, marketing and support organization in response to its unprecedented growth.
To support this growth, SASI is also establishing new regional offices in Chicago and at its headquarters in Bristol. These new offices will supplement an existing regional office in Auburn, Calif.
In January, with more than a $22 million order backlog and a strong business outlook, SASI moved to a new, larger facility in Bristol. SASI develops, manufactures and markets PC-based point-of-sale (POS) systems for the retail market. Its customers include Wawa, Rite Aid Corporation, Savemart, Pep Boys, and Diamond Shamrock, Inc. Commenting on the organizational expansion, Alexander S. Beller, executive vice president for SASI, said, "Having just completed the most successful year in the eight-year history of the company, we recognized the need to restructure and build a sales, marketing and support organization to accommodate our growth. The demand for failsafe POS systems, with capabilities for electronic payment transactions, order replenishment, and the capture of buying pattern data, has fueled sales of SASI POS systems. We will continue to be a technology leader in meeting the integrated hardware and software application needs of the retail industry for POS systems."
Heading the new central regional office in Chicago will be Donald E. Gusse. Formerly, Gusse was national sales director for ICL Canada, Inc. Jack W. Coapman Jr., the new regional director for the eastern region, joins SASI from GTE Interactive Services where he was general sales manager.
In addition to expanding its regional sales organization, SASI has created an industry marketing group directed by Jack C. Finney, vice president, industry marketing. This group will focus on the requirements for POS systems support in key industry segments, including supermarkets, convenience stores, automotive aftermarket chains, and drugstores. A new industry support function has also been formed. Tammy Baily has been promoted to manager, industry support. Linda Hoffman has also been named manager, industry support.
Additionally, Christiana Handford has been promoted to manager of marketing planning, a new business analysis function. Matthew Farrow has joined SASI as program manager for SASI Direct, a new distribution channel to supply dealers directly with Spectra-Physics and other bar code scanners. Ellen Greenberg has been named marketing manager and will direct marketing communications and trade show activities.
Stores Automated Systems, Inc., headquartered in Bristol, develops, manufactures, markets and supports integrated point-of-sale solutions for the retail industry. The company specializes in serving convenience store chains, supermarkets, drugstore and auto aftermarket chains. Founded in 1983, SASI pioneered the development of PC-based POS systems. The company uses an open architecture concept under DOS and UNIX platforms to capitalize on advanced software techniques. With more than 30,000 registers installed throughout North America, SASI has distinguished itself as a leading single-solution provider for diverse retail applications.
