SAS introduces digital TV ticket booking trial.
SAS says it has become the first airline in Europe to offer its customers the chance to check travel offers and book and pay for flights using digital television.
A test for the system is currently being conducted in 12,000 Swedish households and a project manager for the SAS Digital TV project said, 'We're doing this so that we can test whether our customers would enjoy being in contact with us through digital TV, and if that's a good avenue for us to reach our customers.'
Using the system, SAS will send air tickets through the post when customers have confirmed their travel purchase. However, during the test period, users have an option to cancel their purchase. Following the test period SAS says it will evaluate its experiences of the system and expand on them, based partly on the reactions of customers.
