SAS 'boosts war in Syria against IS'.

BRITAIN is poised to increase its SAS presence in Syria, it is claimed.

It is understood ground troops from the elite Who Dares Wins unit are already in the country battling Islamic State.

The Ministry of Defence has not confirmed their presence and last night repeated: "We don't com- ment on Special Forces."

But respected, US-based Foreign Policy news website has reported that the UK and France had agreed to send additional forces to Syria, to cover for the American troops which are withdrawing.

Two British soldiers were seriously injured in January during an IS missile attack in Syria.

In March last year, Sgt Matt Tonroe, 33, from 3rd Battalion, Parachute Regi ment, was killed while embedded with US forces.
