SAPIENS INTERNATIONAL NAMED MEMBER OF IBM'S INTERNATIONAL ALLIANCE FOR AD/CYCLE

 SAPIENS INTERNATIONAL NAMED MEMBER OF
 IBM'S INTERNATIONAL ALLIANCE FOR AD/CYCLE
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- IBM today named Sapiens International Corp. N.V. a member of the International Alliance for AD/Cycle (Note A), giving the software company and its SAPIENS (Note B) product a key role in IBM's application development software strategy.
As a member of the Alliance, Sapiens will work closely with IBM on its mainframe and workgroup initiatives within AD/Cycle - IBM's framework to speed and simplify application development. IBM acquired an equity position in Sapiens earlier this year and the two companies have joint marketing agreements.
Within the AD/Cycle framework, Sapiens has agreed to develop and produce applications from information stored in IBM's AD/Cycle Information Model. Sapiens will continue to provide application development products for the mainframe and plans to expand them to operate on IBM's LAN-based workgroup development environment.
The SAPIENS product uses rule-based, object-based technology to build and implement flexible business applications on IBM mainframe computers while significantly reducing development time. With SAPIENS, business rules are attached to data definitions and stored as objects in an active knowledgebase, an intelligent storage facility. No conventional programming is required. Objects can be quickly and easily enhanced to reflect changing business needs, thereby increasing developer productivity while insuring application quality.
As an Alliance member, Sapiens application development and maintenance offering, SAPIENS, will be marketed worldwide by both companies. Sapiens has an established customer base in North and South America, Europe and in Asia, with IBM marketing agreements in 12 countries.
"Sapiens' unique rule-based technology and approach to application development offer important benefits to customers whose businesses require fast development of applications," said Earl F. Wheeler, IBM senior vice president and general manager, Programming Systems.
"We have been working very closely with IBM over the past several years and are very pleased with this next level of partnership. The Alliance is a natural progression that should enhance our competitiveness in the rapidly expanding rule-based application development market," said Shaul Shani, CEO and chairman of Sapiens International.
Sapiens International Corp., N.V. joins software developers Bachman Information Systems, Inc., Digitalk Inc., Easel Corporation KnowledgeWare, Inc., Micro Focus, SYNON Corporation and VIASOFT, Inc. as members of the International Alliance for AD/Cycle.
Sapiens International's wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary, Sapiens USA, Inc., is headquartered in Cary, N.C.
