SAP demand increasing in Japan.

Domestic demand for superabsorbent polymers in Japan was 137,577 tons in 2008, a 5.3% increase compared to the previous year. Exports also increased, 6.2% to 299,154 tons. Although the growth in export demand decreased largely from 31% growth recorded in 2007, demand from emerging markets of China, Eastern Europe and South America is increased. Meanwhile, domestic demand has remained steady as decreased need for baby diapers has been offset by increased need for adult incontinence items.
