NORTH POLE, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- In a news development that travel enthusiasts have long expected, Santa and his elves have announced the creation of a new line of business to complement toy manufacturing. Their new travel division puts together the world's most desirable holiday packages.
Those who have been nice -- rather than naughty -- can choose from packages that put them and their loved ones exactly where they'd most like to spend Christmas.
For some, that might be on the quiet, beautiful Island of Lana'i, Hawaii, for a seaside tropical holiday, with Santa himself teeing off at a brand new golf course on Christmas Day.
Still others may prefer the alpine ski slopes at Sundance, Robert Redford's resort in the Utah Rockies, where sources say that Santa and his elves have been outfitted in ski gear for regular appearances on the slopes during the holiday season.
For those who couldn't imagine holidays without a traditional Christmas plum pudding with brandy sauce, Santa recommends three London hotels which offer special Christmas packages.
Whatever one's travel preferences are at the holiday season, Santa has lined up some very choice choices. Here are some of them:
 Island of Hawaii
For a Christmas dinner like no other, there's Michel's at the Colony Surf Hotel, winner of 26 consecutive Travel Holiday dining awards and the dining spot which "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" calls "The World's Most Romantic Restaurant." Free with every dinner: Stellar views of Waikiki and Hawaii's entire leeward coast and a decor that includes magnificent floral arrangements and gingerbread houses that scent the hallways and dining areas. Colony Surf Hotel rates are $285 to $315 per room per night for a direct ocean view. For information and reservations, call 800-252-7873.
On Dec. 9, Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows recreates a Gingerbread Wonderland, with a life-size gingerbread house. The 12 Days of a Hawaiian Christmas begin Dec. 13 and feature daily entertainment, from coconut painters and lei makers to songs and dances of the islands. Camp Mauna Lani Bay for children will include sessions on making ornaments, cards, and holiday wreaths. Holiday rates at the Mauna Lani Bay begin at $275 per room, per night. For information and reservations, call 800-367-2323 or 808-885-6622 in Hawaii.
 Island of Oahu, Hawaii
The biggest gift of all this holiday season would be a stay at Oahu's first luxury resort Ihilani Resort & Spa, opening Dec. 15 at Ko Olina Resort. Ihilani will deck its brand new halls in glorious holiday fashion with hundreds of poinsettia plants, while fragrant wreaths and Christmas trees will adorn the lobby and restaurant areas. Ihilani's year-'round children's program, Keiki Beachcomber's Club, will offer cookie decorating and ornament making for the children's own personal Christmas tree. A visit from Santa Claus and a showing of "The Little Drummer Boy" will highlight special holiday evening programs for the kids. Holiday rates at Ihilani Resort & Spa begin at $275 per room, per night. For information and reservations, call 800-626-4466 or 808-679-0079 in Hawaii.
 Island of Lana'i, Hawaii
On this peaceful little island where dolphins and whales can be spotted frolicking in the Pacific, holiday festivities are everywhere, including ones especially for children. Worth special mention at the Lodge at Koele on Lana'i: A reenactment by a Honolulu storyteller of "A Christmas Carol," cookie decorating, caroling around a piano, hula lessons, and lei-making with a Christmas twist. Also, sumptuous feasts overseen by Executive Chef Darin Schulz, rated No. 1 in the islands by the Zagat Survey on Hawaii. Christmas rates at The Lodge at Koele, Dec. 19, 1993, to Jan. 2, 1994, begin at $295. A five-night minimum stay is required.
At The Manele Bay Hotel on the southern shore of Lana'i, water sports, reef walks, and beachcombing are the focus. On Christmas Day, Santa will be the first to tee off at the Challenge at Manele, a new Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course built on several hundred acres of natural lava outcroppings. Holiday rates at The Manele Bay Hotel start at $225.

 Scottsdale, Ariz.
Santa likes the gentle warmth of the desert in winter as much as anyone, so to lure other sun-lovers to the American Southwest for the holidays, he's put together a special package at the Phoenician, Scottsdale's famed resort. Seasonal festivities include concerts, carolers, and visits from Santa himself. For kids, there's the Funician's Club. From Dec. 15 to Jan. 5, Santa has arranged a special rate of $205, with a minimum stay of five consecutive nights. For information and reservations, call 800-955-7352.
For a more Dickensian kind of celebration, Santa suggests London as the ideal spot.
Dukes Hotel, in the heart of St. James's, occupies a quiet cul-de- sac where gas lamps are still lit by hand every evening. Dukes offers a four-night "Christmas in Style" package that includes sumptuous, candle- lit dinners, caroling, and a traditional Christmas dinner with roast goose, turkey, venison, and homemade plum pudding. Excursions include a trot through Hyde Park on horses and a day at the races. The hotel is within walking distance of Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, and other famous London sights. The four nights cost 500 pounds per person, fully inclusive. For more information and reservations, call 800-525-4800.
Around the corner is London's Stafford Hotel, rated by Andrew Harper's Hideaway Report as one of the top 15 city hotels in the world. A special holiday rate of 130 pounds per night, including a full English breakfast, service, and value-added tax, is offered from Dec. 17, 1993, to Jan. 17, 1994. Sumptuous holiday fare is offered in the hotel's gourmet restaurant, and caroling and other traditions will take place in the intimate drawing room. Santa will leave gifts of fruit, champagne, and trinkets for those staying over for Christmas. A special theater package is also offered during the holidays. For more information and reservations, call 800-525-4800.
For a gilt-edged Christmas or New Year's celebration, The Ritz is the place to see and be seen. There's a five-course dinner and Big Band dancing on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day brings a five-course luncheon with turkey, all the trimmings, and homemade plum pudding. Evening brings another four-course meal, plus black-tie dinner and dancing. New Year's celebrations feature champagne, glamour, more wonderful food than anyone can eat, fireworks, and dancing. The four-day, three-night Christmas package, Dec. 24-27, is 595 pounds per person, all inclue?. For more information and reservations, call 800-525-4800.
 Christmas for Skiers
A whole village of professionally carved ice animals greet Christmas visitors to Sundance, Robert Redford's resort in the Utah Rockies. Christmas carolers sing at the base of the ski slopes on Christmas Eve afternoon, and Santa and his elves appear on the slopes and in the resort's restaurants throughout the season. Rates range from $150 a night for a standard cottage to $550 for a three-bedroom cottage. For information and reservations, call 800-892-1600.
 A Euro-Christmas
From Nov. 26 to Dec. 23, the center of downtown Munich sparkles: This is the period of the famous Christkindl Market, when shops are full of the sights, scents, and sounds of Christmas. Glazed breads and cookies, handmade candies, shop windows decorated with all of the charming detail and fascination of an Advent calendar. The Rafael Hotel, one of Munich's most charming hotels in the heart of the historical quarter, offers three holiday packages, from Thanksgiving to New Year's. New Year's celebrations include live music and a performance by a magician. For information and reservations, call 800-223-1588.
