SHOPKEEPERS have gone viral to make sure Santa Claus is coming to viral to make sure Claus is coming to their town.

A festive YouTube video featuring local traders in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, has notched up 5000 hits.

Interior designer Ashley Wilson said: "Our goal is to get on to Lorraine Kelly's sofa.

"We're big fans of Lorraine. She's one of us and it would be fab - and great for the town - if we could get on to her show.

"We're looking out our tartan dresses."

The video kicks off with baker George Ross, reading his Doric version of Twas the Night Before Christmas. Shopkeepers pop up advertising their wares - as does local hero, 2014 Commonwealth gold medallist Hannah Miley.

And the camera captures sporty Santa bending in a Beckham-esque free kick.

Judy Whyte, of Mitchell's Dairy, said: "This is local shops working together to promote our town.

"We're fortunate the main High Street still has the traditional, independently-run shops.

"From outside it looks like we're thriving but under the water we're paddling very fast. We decided to take the reindeer by the horns and make the best of it."
