SANDERS CONFECTIONERY PRODUCTS FILES PETITION FOR WRIT OF CERTIORARI WITH UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT

TROY, Mich., Nov. 30 ~PRNewswire~ -- Sanders Confectionery Products, Inc. announced today that it has filed a Petition for Writ of Certiorari with the United States Supreme Court with respect to its lawsuit against Heller Financial, Inc., Jay Alix and John Butler.
John M. Sanders, chairman of the board of Sanders, and Filipp J. Kreissl, president, said that the request for review by the Supreme Court arises from constitutional issues involved in an opinion rendered in the case by the Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
At the same time, there is pending action ongoing in Bankruptcy Court involving motions filed by numerous parties, including the Detroit Edison Company and Sanders' union, Council 30. The motions seek the removal of Alix as trustee for his failure to properly represent the creditors, as well as for an undisclosed conflict of interest. The relief sought includes the appointment of a new, independent trustee to pursue Heller for damages on behalf of the creditors.
