SANDERS CELEBRATES NEW LIFE ON 118TH BIRTHDAY

/ADVANCE/UTICA, Mich., June 13 /PRNewswire/ -- On Thursday, June 17, the 13 Sanders retail outlets located throughout metro Detroit will celebrate the company's 118th birthday. Sanders has been serving area residents unique treats since 1875. Through the years, customers have savored the Sanders famous hot fudge cream puffs, ice cream sodas, ice cream toppings and chocolates. In the early 1900s, Sanders introduced a line of fresh bakery goods and began serving lunch at the stores' soda fountains. Today, each of the Sanders stores remains a one-stop shop for all area residents' favorite traditions -- from Devilsfood Buttercream Bumpy Cake and Colonial Layer Cake to fresh baked cookies, rolls and breads, Michigan's best ice cream toppings (according to a recent taste test conducted by a panel of judges from Michigan Living magazine), delicious soups and sandwiches (at most locations) and metro Detroit's most talked-about fountain products.
As Sanders celebrates 118 years of life, the stores will also be celebrating a kind of rebirth. Since acquiring all 11 of the retail outlets in April of this year, Sanders Systems, Inc., a Utica-based company, has begun breathing new life into the existing stores. Sanders Systems walked away from the April acquisitions with much more than a new company -- it walked away with a Detroit tradition. The management of Sanders Systems is dedicated to revitalizing the existing locations and growing the company to ensure that future generations experience the Sanders tradition.
In the meantime, the Sanders retail outlets will celebrate the company's birthday with $1.18 fountain specials Monday through Saturday, $1.18 off the renowned Colonial Layer Cake all week long, and complimentary birthday cake to customers who visit the stores on Thursday. To join in the celebration, people can stop by one of the following Sanders locations: Dearborn at Michigan Avenue and Outer Drive; Lincoln Park in the Sears store on Southfield Road; Livonia at 6 Mile and Newburgh Road (in the Newburgh Plaza); in the Livonia Mall at 7 Mile and Middlebelt; Farmington Hills at 12 Mile and Farmington; Farmington Hills at 12 Mile and Middlebelt; Troy on Rochester Road north of Long Lake; Bloomfield Township at Telegraph and Maple; Warren at Van Dyke and 12 Mile (Tech Plaza); Shelby Township at 23 Mile and Van Dyke; Roseville in the Sears store at Macomb Mall; Grosse Pointe on Kercheval near St. Clair; and Eastpointe at 10 Mile and Gratiot.
