SANCTUARY WOODS MULTIMEDIA CORP. TO PRODUCE CD-ROM TITLES FOR TANDY CORP. VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Aug 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Sanctuary Woods Multimedia Corp. (Vancouver: SWD) today announced that the Tandy Corp. has signed a contract to distribute Sanctuary Woods interactive multimedia CD-ROM products through its 6,000 Radio Shack and Tandy stores in the United States and Canada. As part of this agreement Tandy will be making an initial purchase of 12,000 units for display purposes, to be distributed throughout their entire North American retail chain this fall. These multimedia CD-ROMs, which feature full-color animation, video clips and digital sound in an interactive format, are designed for Tandy's new "Video Information System" (VIS) hardware. Commented Brian Beninger, Sanctuary Woods president and chief executive officer, "The VIS is the first affordable, mass marketed CD-ROM based multimedia player. This is the consumer-oriented product we've been waiting for. With VIS we can deliver high-quality multimedia entertainment and educational products at an attractive price." The first two Sanctuary Woods titles to be marketed through the Tandy organization will be Episode One of "The Awesome Adventures of Victor Vector & Yondo" entitled "The Vampire's Coffin," and Shelley Duvall's "It's a Bird's Life." Both will sell at a suggested retail price of U.S. $59.95 per unit. "The Vampire's Coffin" is the first episode of a series of fully interactive gaming experiences featuring the valiant Victor Vector and Yondo, the digital dog. The player's mission is to retrieve the vampire's coffin, resting place of Count Dracula, while battling hideous hordes of evil creatures. The second title "It's a Bird's Life" is an enchanting children's story written by acclaimed actress/producer Duvall, where the player follows a group of lovable, zany parrots on an odyssey from Los Angeles to the Amazon forest and back again. Children can listen to or read the story, animate screen objects and play games scattered throughout the adventure. The Macintosh version of the first Victor Vector and Yondo title was successfully released on Aug. 4 at MacWorld Expo in Boston. As a result, the company experienced excellent sales and is currently negotiating further distribution agreements.
