SAN ONOFRE UNIT 3 COMPLETES REFUELING, RETURNS TO SERVICE

 SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Unit 3 at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station is back in service after completing a refueling outage, according to Southern California Edison, operator of the energy facility.
 The generating unit was synchronized with the electric grid Thursday afternoon (Dec. 30, 1993) after completing maintenance work and replacing half of the 217 fuel assemblies in the reactor vessel. San Onofre Unit 3 had been out of service since Oct. 10.
 The San Onofre Unit 2 has been operating at full power during Unit 3 refueling and maintenance activities. The San Onofre facility is owned by Edison, San Diego Gas & Electric Co., and the cities of Anaheim and Riverside.
