SAN FRANCISCO THINK TANK ELECTS NEW OFFICERS

SAN FRANCISCO, July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Bridge Information Systems Senior Vice President James W. Fuller has been elected chairman of the board of the San Francisco-based Pacific Research Institute (PRI) for Public Policy. "PRI's market-oriented research is particularly applicable to the current national policy debate. PRI also has a golden opportunity to influence policy in the nation's largest state," said Fuller, in accepting the chairmanship. "I look forward to working with PRI president Sally Pipes and her staff."
Also elected officers at PRI's July annual meeting were Vice Chairman Samuel H. Husbands Jr., vice president, Dean Witter Reynolds; and Secretary/Treasurer Thomas C. Magowan, executive vice president, Aquatech Systems Inc.
PRI's immediate past chairman is Everett E. Berg, president of Emeryville-based EBCO Enterprises. Berg is co-chairman of EXCEL, sponsor of Proposition 174, the California school voucher initiative that goes before state voters in November 1993. Howard H. Leach, president, Leach Capital Corp., is the newest addition to the PRI board.
Also at the annual meeting in July, PRI president Pipes reported on work in progress on policy fronts including the environment, education, health care and privatization. Said Pipes, "Our programs restore to parents the fundamental right to choose which schools their children will attend, propose ways to privatize services provided by the state, employ market forces in protecting the environment, and remove the regulatory and tax barriers that impede the engines of entrepreneurship."
