SAN DIEGO TROLLEY TRACKS GET SPRING CLEANING
 FROM LOCAL COMMUNITY GROUP
SAN DIEGO, May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- San Diego Trolley Inc. recognized the dedication to the community exhibited by more than 500 volunteers from the San Diego Church of Christ who will be giving up their Saturday morning, on May 9, to do "spring cleaning" along the trolley tracks at the Iris Avenue Trolley Station.
San Diego Trolley President and General Manager Langley Powell said, "It's refreshing to see such a large group of San Diegans who are not only concerned with improving their community, but are willing to put their own time and energy toward making it happen."
Representatives from the San Diego Church of Christ will be meeting at the Imperial & 12th Transfer Station at 8:30 a.m. From there they will trolley down to the Iris Avenue Station on San Diego Trolley's South Line. There they will pull weeds, pick up trash and paint over graffiti to help improve the Trolley right-of-way and the community through which it runs.
San Diego Church of Christ Evangelist Dave Weger said, "We chose working along the trolley tracks because both the residents of this community and the passengers will be able to enjoy the improvements. Plus, our volunteers feel that with a little work, we can all keep San Diego beautiful."
The San Diego Trolley's South Line from downtown San Diego to San Ysidro has been operating since 1981. The East Line from downtown to El Cajon opened in sections: to Euclid Avenue in 1986, to El Cajon in 1989 and along the bayside in 1990.
