SAMUEL GOLDWYN SETS 'MUCH ADO ABOUT EDUCATION'; STUDENTS, EDUCATORS TO GET DISCOUNT ADMISSION TO 'MUCH ADO' BEGINNING SEPT. 29

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Students returning to the classroom this fall have more to look forward to than new teachers, new books and new roommates.
The Samuel Goldwyn Co. in cooperation with the educational community, is reaching out to students across the country with its film "Much Ado About Nothing"; offering a special "Much Ado About Education" program beginning Sept. 29.
On that date, students and educators will receive a substantially discounted admission as well as free study guides and posters. In addition, W.W. Norton, publisher of Kenneth Branagh's book containing his screenplay adaptation along with his introduction, notes and photos on the making of the film, is offering the book at half-price beginning Sept. 29 throughout the month of October to students and educators.
Educational organizations already spreading the world include The National Education Association, American Association of School Libraries, American Association of College and Research Libraries, The Shakespeare Association of America and The National Endowment for the Arts, reaching nearly 10 million people in the educational community.
"This is our way of giving something to the educational community, promoting education and great entertainment, and proving, once and for all, that they are not mutually exclusive," said Tom Rothman, Goldwyn's president of Worldwide Production.
"The Sept. 29 date is really a starting point," he continues. "The film will be in its greatest number of theaters on that date. We're working with the theater owners and managers to offer discounts throughout the run of the film.
"We get calls every day from educational groups who want to participate. We will do anything we can to support the educational community."
Said director Branagh, "The importance of `Much Ado' is that it presents a whole series of emotional and spiritual challenges that we -- young, old, male and female -- continue to face when we love. It allows us to understand and perhaps even to forgive ourselves for some of our oft-repeated follies."
To assist in the effort, a "Much Ado About Education" hotline, 800-6-GOLDWYN, has been created.
A Samuel Goldwyn Company production, "Much Ado About Nothing" stars Branagh, Michael Keaton, Robert Sean Leonard, Keanu Reeves, Emma Thompson and Denzel Washington. It was directed and adapted for the screen by Branagh.
