Dr. Bernard Salick, chairman and chief executive officer, said, "Our financial results this quarter continue to reflect the growing demand for the quality, cost-effective care that our centers provide for patients with catastrophic diseases.
"Salick Health Care is meeting this demand by offering cancer diagnosis and treatment consistent with the latest advances in medical technology. We are continuing to expand the services offered at our Cancer Centers to provide state-of-the-art procedures such as stereotactic radiosurgery, bone marrow transplantation and stem cell pheresis. These services -- traditionally performed in more expensive hospital settings -- should contribute positively to revenues and profitability.
"We have added skilled professionals with managed care expertise to our management team. They are developing new programs to aggressively market our broad range of unique services to all payors, including employers and managed care entities. Concurrently, we are developing networks of physicians in the areas we service. This will enable us to operate more effectively and efficiently in this market."
Salick Health Care is a leading provider of diagnosis and treatment to patients with catastrophic illness requiring sophisticated long-term care, principally in the areas of cancer, kidney failure, organ transplantation and other immunodeficient diseases. These services are provided at alternate sites including outpatient facilities and the patient's home.
Salick currently operates nine comprehensive cancer centers throughout the country which contribute more than 70 percent of total company revenues. It also operates eight outpatient dialysis centers and provides inpatient dialysis services at 21 hospitals. Through its recently established INFUSX subsidiary, Salick provides various infusion and related services in the patient's home and at specialized facilities for the treatment of complex chronic diseases.
