SAHARA HOTEL'S TUNIS TOWER RECEIVES MAKE-OVER

SAHARA HOTEL'S TUNIS TOWER RECEIVES MAKE-OVER
LAS VEGAS, Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The Tunis Tower at the Sahara

Hotel and Casino (NASDAQ: SHRE) is currently undergoing complete remodeling and renovation. The tower is one of the original buildings to stand on the famed Las Vegas Strip. Currently, it houses 200 of the 2,100 rooms and suites that make up the Sahara Hotel. The building was erected in 1960 under the ownership of the Del Webb Corp. and then stood as the tallest structure in the state among less than a handful of hotel towers. Tunis Tower stands not only as a part of Sahara history, but as a part of Las Vegas history.
Over the years many people have checked in for a stay in the Tunis Tower -- countless numbers of people from the ordinary to the extraordinary. The Beatles, during a stopover for a concert at the Las Vegas Convention Center in 1964, spent their resting hours in the penthouse suite atop the 14-floor high-rise. According to one hotel representative, "just about everyone stayed in the Tunis Tower. We've had sports figures like Jack Nicklaus and Nancy Lopez and celebrities like Elvis, Don Rickles, George Burns, Red Skelton, Tony Bennett, and the list goes on and on."
As part of ongoing efforts for continuous improvements, Sahara Resorts has undertaken this extensive renovation project to update the existing facilities to provide modern accommodations with the traditional quality that has made the Sahara Hotel famous.
The renovations will incorporate the building's charm with modern interior decor. The guest rooms will be furnished in mauve and ginger-colored fabrics with contemporary wood accent furniture. The Tunis will offer three floors of non-smoking guest rooms, as well as six rooms to provide for disabled guests in compliance with ADA regulations.
Nine of the fourteen floors of Tunis are expected to re-open by this Labor Day weekend. The Tunis Tower is anticipated to be open for complete occupancy by late September. The Tunis will again make history with its list of illustrious guests set to grow after the completion of its facelift. Once "home to the stars" from the past, the Tunis will now attract the stars of the future. With up-to-date accommodations and new facilities, the Tunis Tower will offer its guests the quality and services for which the Sahara has become famous.
