SAFEWAY TO HOLD SKI RACE TO BENEFIT EASTER SEALS!!
CLACKAMAS, Ore., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Safeway announced today it will hold the 8th Annual SAFEWAY EASTER SEALS INVITATIONAL SKI RACE on February 8 and 9 at Mt. Hood Meadows. During this event's seven-year history, over $467,000 has been donated to the Oregon Easter Seals Society, making the ski race one of the largest and most successful Easter Seals fund-raising events in the state. The Safeway Easter Seals Invitational Ski Race is open to all interested parties, but an observer would see a veritable "Who's Who" of the retail grocery industry -- all skiing for Easter Seals! Participation in the event includes two days of skiing and racing, lunches on both days, as well as the Tuesday night Banquet and Calcutta (fundraising) Auction. According to Safeway's Race Coordinator Tom Leach, "This year's event promises to be one of the best ever! The snow conditions are next to perfect! Everyone involved has a great time -- whether they choose to cheer their favorite racing team, serve as a volunteer or actually race! Participants come away with a warm feeling in their heart since all proceeds are donated to a very worthy cause -- Easter Seals! This year, Safeway's goal is to raise $200,000, which will bring Safeway's overall donation to Oregon's Easter Seals Society to over $3.4 million since 1986!" The even begins on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 10:30 a.m. and runs through Wednesday afternoon. The entry fee of $100 includes two lift tickets, two lunches, snacks and dinner Tuesday night.
