 SAFEWAY INTRODUCES MEAT, SEAFOOD HOTLINE 800-685-6711
 BELLEVUE, Wash., May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning May 27, Safeway


customers in Washington, Alaska, Montana, Northern Idaho and Milton- Freewater, Ore., may have their questions regarding meat and seafood answered by calling Safeway's new informational toll-free hotline number (800-685-6711). The Seattle Division of Safeway Inc. announced today it will offer this new service, staffed by trained professionals who will answer a variety of questions regarding meat and seafood.
 "Safeway is offering this new hotline as an additional service for our customers to better serve their needs," said John King, vice president and marketing operations manager. "Customers have always thought of Safeway for the highest-quality meat and seafood and now will think of us when they have a question regarding preparation or nutritutional content as well."
 Consumers will find a wealth of information available at the end of their phone lines from tips regarding nutritional value, food safety and freshness, to cuts of meat, types of seafood, seasoning, marinating and cooking.
 The meat and seafood hotline is the first of its kind operated by a major supermarket chain in the Pacific Northwest. The hotline is staffed Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The toll-free hotline number will be advertised in Safeway's weekly insert and on meat and seafood purchases.
 The Seattle Division of Safeway Inc. is made up of 178 stores in Washington, Alaska, Northern Idaho, Montana and Milton-Freewater, Ore.
