SAFECARD TO REASSERT CLAIMS AGAINST PETER A. HALMOS

CHEYENNE, Wyo., Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- SafeCard Services, Inc. (NYSE: SSI), today announced that the company's claims against Peter A. Halmos, its former chairman, would not be litigated in the United States District Court in Wyoming but rather in an alternative court.
The United States District Court for the District of Wyoming last Friday dismissed the company's claims for lack of federal venue in Wyoming. This ruling concerned only the procedural question of which court should decide SafeCard's claims and did not address the merits of SafeCard's claims that Peter Halmos breached his fiduciary duties, misappropriated corporate opportunities and sold SafeCard stock on the basis of nonpublic information belonging to SafeCard.
Because SafeCard's board and management continue to believe that those claims are meritorious, the company will promptly reassert its claims against Peter Halmos in an alternative court.
SafeCard Services, Inc. is the world's largest provider of credit card registry services and also provides other enhancement services through its credit card issuer clients.
