SAFECARD SERVICES NAMES NEW DIRECTOR OF SECURITY

 CHEYENNE, Wyo., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- K.C. Keffer, a leader in the development of security programs for the data processing industry, has been named director of security and facilities for SafeCard Services, Inc. (SSI) (NYSE: SSI), it was announced today.
 Gerald R. Cahill, chief operating officer who made the announcement, said Keffer's appointment was effective Jan. 11, 1993.
 Keffer, 59, has over 25 years of progressive data processing experience, with the last 15 in the management of information systems security and contingency planning programs.
 He was a co-founder of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), an international organization dedicated to providing security leadership, education and guidance to the profession. In 1983, Keffer founded the Resource Access Control Facility (RACF) user's association, a national organization committed to the refinement of IBM's security access control system.
 Keffer has developed, implemented and managed highly successful information security programs with two major Southern California business organizations, Atlantic Richfield and Carter Hawley Hale Stores (CHH).
 The Carter Hawley Hall Stores program was endorsed by IBM as "one of the country's top Information Security Programs in the retail sector." His experience also includes a through understanding and application of business recovery planning, EDP auditing, change control and project management.
 Keffer has a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Redlands in Redlands, Calif. and a master of arts in management degree, also from the University of Redlands.
 SafeCard Services, Inc., founded in 1969, is one of the nation's largest credit card and service organizations.
