SAD to hear of the passing of singer Joe Cocker from lung cancer aged 70.

The Sheffield-born gravel-voiced vocalist was truly a rock and blues legend.

I know it's relatively simple to tweak a song that's already been written, but his rendition of The Beatles' With A Little Help From My Friends was an absolute gem and acknowledged so by Sir Paul McCartney himself. Joe covered many Beatles' songs, this being his best and a monster smash hit it was too.

Also renowned for his duet with Jennifer Warnes with Up Where We Belong from the film An Officer And A Gentleman, Joe Cocker could turn his hand to any song and succeeded in doing so.

Sing to the angels, Joe. Your voice will never be forgotten.
