Rydal Penrhos: Skiing stars.

Pupils from Rydal Penrhos Prep School travelled to Switzerland recently to take part in the Welsh National Alpine Ski Championships in Champery. Skiing is a very popular activity at Rydal Penrhos, with pupils from the age six travelling weekly to the Llandudno slope to practise their skills.

In the Alps, three of the school's skiing stars, Ben Constantine, Keira Bonnington and Alex Davies, trained hard with the Dragons Alpine Ski Racing Club in the days leading up to the races. In near-perfect conditions, they excelled themselves to produce some fantastic results: In the Under 10 Boys, Ben Constantine was 1st Welsh Boy in the slalom and giant slalom and also finished 3rd overall (open category) in the slalom.

In the Under 12 girls, Keira Bonnington was 1st Welsh Girl in both the slalom and giant slalom and was 3rd overall in the slalom.

Alex Davies fought hard to overcome tough competition in the Under 12 boys to finish 2nd in the slalom and was also runner-up in the second of two giant slalom races.

Ben and Keira finished as overall champions in their age group, while Alex was runner-up. Well done to all three of our skiing stars!
