Ryanair extends Barcelona Girona base for five years and announces new routes.

Irish low-cost airline Ryanair (Dublin:RYA) (LSE:RYA) has entered into an agreement to extend its base at Barcelona Girona Airport for another five years, the company revealed today.

Under the agreement Ryanair will base up to ten aircraft at Girona at the start of its summer 2011 schedule, with 63 routes including eight new routes to Cochstedt, Karlstad, Kristianstad, Plovdiv, Rzeszow, Szczecin, Skelleftea and Tallinn.

More than 4m passengers fly with Ryanair to Girona Airport each year.

Tickets for the airline's summer schedule flights at Girona, including the eight new routes, will be available to book from Friday.
