Ruth, 53, says she and 41-year-old James Corden did not expect so much excitement from fans ahead of the Christmas special, which is coming up in just a few weeks, and says the ongoing success of the show could see it continue further.
"I think it would be churlish of me to say there won't be any more," the star - who playsNessa Jenkinsin the show - teased.
"The honest truth is there are no plans. But I don't think I could ever say never," she added.
Ruth expressed satisfaction at the way the new episode turned out - while critics who have had advanced screenings of the episode have already described the special as "a Christmas miracle" and an episode "you won't be able to resist".
"I get to be really rude and bossy. Being back in Barry again, wearing that leather skirt and being down the races or in Gwen's house was just bliss," Ruth told Red magazine.
