Russian political expert: Europeans understand that it makes no sense to urge Armenia to choose between European Union and Customs Union.

Yerevan. The Europeans understand that it makes no sense to urge Armenia to choose between the European Union and the

Customs Union, Director of the New York based Institute for Democracy and Cooperation Andranik Mihranyan said during a meeting

with professors of Armenian State Pedagogical University on Tuesday.

"Consequently, the EU is ready to continue its dialogue with Armenia despite its decision to join the Customs Union. An

effective diplomacy can often help a small country to get benefits from different centers for force. I am sure that any authority - be it the

first President Levon ter-Petrosyan or any other - would have opted for Russia if faced with such a choice. So, Armenia's decision to join

the Customs Union was a success for its relations with both Russia and the EU," Mihranyan said, adding that the Customs Union will

give Armenia real economic benefits.
