Russian lawmaker discusses mutual relations with Arab diplomats.

| MOSCOW, April 3 (KUNA) -- The Group of Arab Ambassadors here discussed Russian-Arab relations with Aleksey Pushkov, the Chairman of the Russian Duma's International Affairs Committee, said Dean of the Arab diplomatic corps in Moscow, Kuwaiti ambassador Nasser al-Mezyan, in statements to KUNA on Tuesday.

Among the principal topics Pushkov and these diplomats focused on was the situation in Syria, where all agreed on the imperative to set in motion more pressingly the mission of the joint UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan, while removing any impediments to its success, said al-Mezyan.

He added that the Group of Ambassadors extolled the Russian stance vis-@-vis the aspiration of the Palestinian people for the establishment of an independent state of their own.

Furthermore, he proposed that Arab and Russian lawmakers boost their contacts more, perhaps through setting up joint parliamentarian friendship committees, adding that the meeting today with Pushkov came within efforts of the Arab Group to reach out to high-ranking Russian officials for more interlocution.
