Alexander Kuznetsov said: "I was incomplete 20 years, when I got to the front. After warm parental care, the war met me with the smell of a damp earth of trenches and decaying corpses. And in winter - frosty barbed wire of enemy fences. And gloomy frontal years began to flow: the Kursk Bulge, the battle on the Dnieper, experiences in the enemy encirclement. The roads of war are hard. I had to visit the guerrilla unit. He experienced the horror of tank attacks of aviation bombing, famine, winter cold and human fear of a near and possible death. Light and severe injury - all this was taken for granted. And the death of close friends was no longer surprising, because there was near death. That's really trouble! The further in time from the war I do not cease to be surprised: where did the young soldiers of that time have such confidence in victory, such power of mind ?! At us, front-line soldiers during that hard time the purpose and belief were extremely clear: there is nowhere to retreat, behind the parental home
