Russia bans EU meat imports.

Russia has banned EU meat imports in response to the foot and mouth epidemic, despite the fact several countries have not recorded any cases of the disease.

The Danish embassy in Moscow is expected to hold talks with the Russian administration following the announcement of an initial three-week ban on the import of meat and meat products from the EU.

Denmark's three biggest markets for pork outside the EU - Japan, the US and Russia - have now closed their borders to EU meat imports, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation reported.
