Russia Deploys Helicopters to Base in Armenia.

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Russian Defense Ministry said that Moscow has deployed attack and transport helicopters to a base in Armenia.

Russia's RIA news agency on Tuesday cited the Russian Defense Ministry as saying that Moscow had sent seven Mi-24 and Mi-8 helicopters to its base near the Armenian capital, Yerevan.

The ministry was also quoted as saying that another deployment was expected to be made to the base - which was set up in 1995 - before the end of the current year.

Moscow also has a military base in Armenia's Northwestern city of Gyumri, located near the country's border with Turkey.
