Russell I. Milkman, 78.
Mr. Milkman was born, April 23, 1931, in Woonsocket, RI, a son of Earl and Irene (Bennett) Milkman. He grew up in Douglas, where he graduated from Douglas High School, and pitched for the high school baseball team. He moved to Sutton in 1958.
He was a US Navy veteran during the Korean War.
He was an assembler and fork lift operator at the General Motors assembly plant in Framingham for 30 years, retiring in 1993. Previously, he was an appliance repairman.
Mr. Milkman was a member of the Blackstone Valley United Methodist Church in Whitinsville, and he was an active member of the Sutton Senior Center. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, fishing and swimming. He was a former Webelos Leader, and an enthusiastic sports fan.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, October 3, in South Sutton Cemetery, Hough Road, Sutton. There are no Calling Hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Associatiion, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA, 02472.
