Russell's gig off as blaze hits Armadillo.
Thousands of Russell Watson fans missed out last night when his Glasgow concert was cancelled due to a fire.
The opera singer was set to perform his only Scottish date at the Clyde Auditorium, known as the Armadillo.
But after a fire broke out backstage, bosses were forced to cancel the gig.
Emergency services rushed to the venue, which was evacuated as smoke billowed from the back of the building just before 6pm. Watson was due on stage at 8pm.
But instead he tweeted: "There has been a fire at the Glasgow SECC. We have been evacuated OMG smoke billowing from the back of the venue". An updated statement on his Facebook page said the concert had been cancelled and he had been advised the building was unsafe.
It added: "The important thing is that everyone has been evacuated and is safe.
"We'll keep you updated on any developments. All ticket holders will be contacted by the venue."
Fans had travelled from far and wide to see him.
Many only found out the concert was off when they tried to get to the 3000-seat auditorium.
KENANDYVETTEBENTKOWSKI, from British Columbia in Canada, said: "We were in London but decided to come up to Glasgow for a few days especially for this and we couldn't believe it was cancelled."
