Rural roads renovation.

The "Renovation of Productive Roads" program will repair 460km of rural roads, reports (Oct. 31, 2011). The projects comprise 45 stretches of road, between the regions of Boaco, Chinandega, Chontales, Esteli, Leon, Managua, Matagalpa and Rivas. This is the route to market for $54 million worth of products such as corn, sorghum, rice, beans, cheese, cattle, pigs and milk. The project is sponsored by the Institute of Cement & Concrete and the Union of Agricultural Producers of Nicaragua in conjunction with local authorities. The Exec. Dir. of the Institute of Cement & Concrete, Felipe Arguello, said they would be using a new technique, "Unicap High Performance Pavement, (PUAD in Spanish)." Testing will begin on two stretches of roads in the Municipality of Chichigalpa.
