Rugby Union: Spread the word! The battle to keep Coventry alive.
Rossborough, president of the Butts Park Arena club and a trustee of the fund formed to raise a pounds 100,000 bond required by the RFU to allow the club to continue playing in National Division One, spoke at Coventry and Warwickshire First. The professional services group met at the offices of leading lawyers Wright Hassall, where lifelong supporter John Rouse is a partner.
Rouse said: "There has been a great deal in the papers about the plight of the rugby club and it was good to hear from Peter - someone who has been associated with the club for most of his life - that efforts are being made to keep the club at its present level. Coventry and Warwickshire has a very proud tradition of top rugby and the club generates a great deal of good feeling both locally and nationally."
HOW YOU CAN HELP
YOU can contribute to the performnce bond by cash or cheque at any branch of Coventry Building Society quoting account number 60786949.
Cheques should be made payable to "Coventry Rugby Club Trust." If you have internet banking you can make a direct payment quoting the Society's sort-code 40-63-01 and account number 60786949. You do not need to quote an additional reference number.
The building society is simply accepting contributions to the fund. The welfare of the fund will be the responsibility of the Board of Trustees managing the Coventry Rugby Club Appeal.
They will decide what should happen to the money if it is refunded to them at the end of the two-year security period or if the fund raising falls short.
The trustees will issue a refund for those who have proof of contributions (receipts are only available when making a contribution over the counter at a branch of the Coventry Building Society). The trustees may opt to donate any cash which is not refunded to charity, possibly a local rugby cause.
