CALDY maintained their unbeaten record in South Lancashire/Cheshire One in a bruising encounter against Warrington.

It was 5-5 at the interval but later Warrington had two players dismissed for high tackles.

Caldy took full advantage with a winning try from Duncan Hendry converted by Brendan McGaffney deep into the final quarter. Colt Nick Tomsett impressed when going on as a substitute at prop for the winners Mark Broadhurst gained the first-half touchdown for the table leaders.

ORMSKIRK enjoyed a second victory in South Lancashire/Cheshire One in a defence dominated affair against Isle of Man visitors Vagabonds and it took them off the foot of the table.

It finished 12-9 with Roger Spence landing four penalties.

Birchfield won 17-15 against Leigh while in North Two Aspull achieved a fine 12-3 success against Lymm.

Anselmians enjoyed an excellent 28-6 victory at Hoylake in Division Two. Paul Kelly starred with a hattrick of tries and Simon Kearney also crossed.

Hoylake had to settle for a couple of penalties from Simon Robinson as they suffered a first home defeat in over two years.

St Edwards fell 31-12 at Dukinfield where Andy Kelly and Phil McKee crossed with Martin McGeough managing one goal.

Runcorn finished 20-19 at home to Ashton-on-Mersey but Ellesmere Port achieved a meritable 18-0 win against high-riding Bowdon.

Prenton won the Division Three derby against Wallasey 19-3. Gary Fisher, Graham Davies and Paul Cotgrave crossed. Ian Booth managed a consolation penalty for Wallasey.

Ruskin Park had a fruitful trip to the Isle of Man, winning 32-15 against Douglas. Sefton fell 15-5 at Newton-le-Willows and Collegiate claimed the derby at winless St Mary's 36-10. There was also a win for Orrell Anvils 25-13 at the expense of Marple.

In Division Four Parkonians were edged out 14-13 at Capenhurst. Vulcan were crushed 50-7 by Helsby and there was also little joy for Oswestry in a 42-5 defeat at Sale Amateurs.

West Park .........31 Morley ...........12

PARK returned to winning form in North One League with a convincing display.

Their forwards got on top early on and stayed in control. Shaun Fletcher, Tom Gray, Carl Bibby and Andy Roberts gained tries and Glen Fletcher landed a trio of penalties and a conversion.

Scum-half Darren Wilson was man of the match.

Oldershaw 7 Northwich 12: Oldershaw went bottom of the South Lancashire/ Cheshire One. A Peter Wallace try converted by Mike Chapman gave them an interval advantage but they tired later as the visitors dug deep.
