Rugby Union: Craig has capital chance.

FORMER Scotland stand-off Craig Chalmers is leaving Glasgow Caledonians and joining injury-hit Harlequins on loan until the end of January.

Chalmers, ignored during the first part of Glasgow's European Cup campaign, said: "There is a lot of competition for the No10 jersey. Now this switch will give me the opportunity to play more consistently - and the chance to re-establish myself.

"I will go to London with an open mind about the future. Maybe it won't work out. But maybe it will push me back up the pecking order. In addition, the prospect of linking up with Zinzan Brooke, David Wilson and Keith Woods is exciting."

Chalmers, who is Scotland's most-capped fly-half, is hoping to be involved for the first time on Sunday when Quins face London Irish. Glasgow have three other fully fit stand-offs - Mark McKenzie, Barry Irving, and Tommy Hayes.
