Rugby League: Stankevitch makes move to Vikings.

WIDNES have signed St Helens forward John Stankevitch on a two-year deal.

The 24-year-old England A international will join his home town club along with Wigan duo Terry O'Connor and Mick Cassidy for the start of Super League X.

Stankevitch was left out of the Saints side knocked out of the Super League play-offs on Saturday and is now looking forward to making a new start. He said: ``I had eight great years at Saints and made some good friends but I think the time is right to move on.

``As a local lad I can assure Vikings' fans there will be plenty of pride in my displays next season. ''

Stankevitch missed the first half of the current season after suffering a serious arm injury in last year's play-offs.
