Rugby League: Raiders look set for road success.

Byline: MARK LANGDON

SKY SPORTS are showing their first live NRL game of the season this morning, and while North Queensland Cowboys v Canberra does not get the juices flowing as a viewing medium, punting the Raiders may provide some excitement at the Dairy Farmers Stadium.

The Green Machine are

awesome on the road, winning 11 of their past 14 away games, and it is surprising to see them available off scratch, particularly as the Raiders thrashed the Cowboys 46-16 this time last year.

The Raiders started the

season in fine fashion, beating the Dragons 21-12 and were well on top against Penrith last week until tiredness told in the final 15 minutes.

Expect a bolder showing from Matthew Elliott's side, who could prove too strong in the middle of the park

Some pundits expected the Cowboys to kick on this year, but an opening defeat to

Manly Sea Eagles does not bode well and last week's bye could also turn out to be a

hindrance as the new-look Queenslanders bid to gel.

Recommendation

Raiders (scratch)

1pt 5-6 (Chandler, Coral, Skybet)
