Rugby League: Agar in coup to recruit roker.

RICHARD AGAR is celebrating a major transfer coup only a day into his job as Hull FC's new coach, after the club confirmed the signing of Australia star Michael Crocker.

Agar was handed a two-and-a-half-year contract at the KC Stadium on Tuesday after working under both John Kear and Peter Sharp and has started his reign with the capture of the highly-rated Queensland back-rower.

The 27-year-old has been released from the final year of his contract with Melbourne Storm and will join Hull on a three-year contract next season.

Agar said: "He's a winner, who goes through the front door and takes people with him. Michael is a world-class player who will add steel, aggression and leadership to our pack."

Chief executive James Rule was equally pleased to attract a player of Crocker's standing.

"To have signed a current State of Origin and Australian Test player is a hugely significant signing for us," said Rule.

"It is a major signing and ranks alongside the best in our 143-year history. Michael is renowned as a fierce competitor and leader both on and off the field. We believe those qualities will be essential."
