The Rubena technical rubber factory at Nachod in the Metuje Valley near the Polish border is beginning a major investment program to update its millroom. The company contracted with Chronos Richardson to supply, install and commission pneumatic conveying, mixer feed and process control equipment worth more than pounds 1 million. Chronos will install carbon black and white filler pneumatic conveying systems; two mixing lines, including oil scales, polymer weighing and mixer feed systems; and two automatic small chemicals systems, including a manual small chemical system and a special carbon black compound system. Full production start-up is scheduled for early 1994. Rubena anticipates the expansion will increase the quality and consistency of its compounds, reduce raw materials waste and improve profitability of the mixing plant by reducing manpower.
