Rs4.05 billion announced for flood victims.

ISLAMABAD, Aug. 13 -- Minister for Zakat and Ushr Noorul Haq Qadri on Thursday announced financial assistance of Rs4.05 billion for flood-affected people of the country from the Central Zakat Fund. Addressing a press conference along with secretary Zakat and Ushr Khalid Idrees, he said the financial aid ranging from Rs5,000 to Rs10,000 would be disbursed among each flood-affected families by the provincial Zakat councils in all four provinces, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Gilgit-Baltistan.

He said the decision was taken in a special consultative meeting of the Central Zakat Council held here. The minister said the provincial secretaries of Zakat briefed the meeting about the losses and damages caused by the flood due to torrential rains in their respective provinces.
