Royal Oman Symphony presents a musical treat.
MUSCAT: The Higher College of Technology in Muscat recentlyhosted a concert organised by the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra, where the orchestra performed international pieces under the supervision of the international conductor Peter Starck.Peter Starck is a professional conductor from London, United Kingdom. Besides being a conductor, Starck is also a notable educator in music and the artistic director for both the West of England Philharmonic Orchestra and Parnassus.
Peter trained at the Royal College of Music, with Norman Del Mar and in Vienna with Sir Charles Mackerras.
Stark has also conducted orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the English Chamber Orchestra, and has worked alongside Pierre Boulez, Sir Colin Davis, Lord Menuhin, Sir Roger Norrington and Klaus Tennstedt.
Tunisian violinist
The concert also saw an excellent performance from the 22-year-old Tunisian violinist Yasmine Azaiez. Born in 1988, Yasmine was aged four when she started playing the violin in London with Helen Brunner under the Suzuki method. In England, in November 2006 she performed as a soloist in Mozarta€™s 5th violin concerto with the Westminster Philharmonic Orchestra, and in July 2007 she gave a stunning performance of Ravela€™s Tzigane at Londona€™s Wigmore Hall.
She has played in numerous chamber musical concerts in England and in orchestra has collaborated in venues including The Mansion House in London with famous English cello player Julian Lloyd Webber.
Yasmine also had the honour of performing at the Carthage Acropolium with one of the most prominent musicians in the Arab world Naseer Shamma.
