Royal Blue: Opening day set Faddy back.

JAMES Mc FADDEN'S season was set back six months by the events of the opening day against Arsenal.

That is the verdict of the Scottish international, who struggled to re-establish himself after being substituted at halftime during the 4-1 opening day defeat at the hands of the Gunners - the side the Blues face at Highbury on Wednesday.

He admitted this week: 'I was eager to have a good start but the Arsenal game set me back a few months. It took me six months to get back into the team.

'It took me a while to get over that. Usually after a bad performance you put it to the back of your mind and put it right in the next game. But the side went on a run after that and I had to wait. Hopefully I will get a better start next season
