Roxholme turns on the marathon magic.

ROXHOLME MAGIC initiated a double on the night for Hayley Keightley when setting a remarkable 894m track record despite being tailed off at the rear of the field on the first circuit.

She moved up the gears down the back second time, racing past early leader Tintreach Molly before being chased home by Ribble Atom. Her time of 55.09sec was 44 spots faster than the old 2010 best of Taylors Riviera.

Patrick Janssens' Bockos Alfie produced a fine burst of early in the pups race, comfortably beating Droopys Missouri by five lengths in 28.27sec.

Janssens enjoyed a double when his Barricane Tiger later took the 480m race after the Derby qualifiers in 28.41sec.

Mark Wallis's Roswell Iceman won the main supporting 480m in 28.45sec, picking up faststarting Ebony Flyer at the third. There was a 33-1 turn-up in the six-bender, with Kevin Boon's Spa Road Piper getting what proved a decisive first run on the field to score in 42.07sec for the 687m trip.

Fenbay Roller unfortunately broke a hock on the second turn. He was strapped up and was going to Daniel Doherty to be operated on yesterday. Trainer Seamus Cahill said: "It took the shine off our Derby qualifiers, but we'll hope he can make a recovery."
