Rover unveils logistics centre.

A new pounds 10 million logistics centre which will result in fewer journeys for vehicles making component deliveries was opened yesterday at Rover's Cowley plant by Transport Minister Dr Gavin Strang.

The centre has been jointly developed by Rover and supply chain management services company Exel Logistics Automotive and it will support the launch of the new Rover R40 car at Cowley.

Exel Logistics Automotive expects to recruit more than 100 employees to work at the new facility. Suppliers will be on the site to provide a just-in-time parts service and a Government grant of pounds 315,000 will help develop a railhead for cars for exp ort.
