Router trimming for large parts.

Robotic Production Technology (RPT) introduced its RoboTrim RT-500 router trimming system at the recent SPE Thermoforming Conference in Nashville, Tenn. Designed specifically to trim large thermo-formed, injection-molded, blow-molded, rotational-molded, or composite parts, the system provides the ability to trim 60- x 60- x 60-inch parts with the flexibility of a six-axis robot, according to the company. In addition to a servo-controlled rotating table, full safety enclosure with automatic sliding front doors, and a full complement of safety equipment, the RT-500 features the new six-axis RPT AccuTrim R-110 robot equipped with a 10-hp spindle, automatic tool-change capabilities, Fanuc's new R-J3iC controller, and RPT's "RouterWare" and "System Calibration Tools" software.

System Calibration Tools software--composed of TCPCal (automatic spindle alignment software), RobotCal (robot mastering software), and CellCal (automatic fixture setup software)--allows the set-up and maintenance of the key components required to achieve consistently high part quality with minimal setup time, according to the company.
